ADRES James VIERS, 82 years of age, of Tazewell, Virginia, formerly of Buchanan County, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Tazewell Community Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Dickenson County, VA, he was the son of the late Burl and Blanche Combo Viers. He had been a resident of Buchanan County most of his life, prior to moving to Tazewell, VA. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was of the Old Regular Primitive Baptist Church faith. Mr. Viers was a loving Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather and was a disabled Miner.
Mr. Viers is preceded in death by his loving wife: Elberta Charles Viers, August 1, 1996.
He was survived by 3-Daughters: Annastine Viers, North Tazewell, VA, Martha Jean Viers, North Tazewell, VA, Lovella Meadows, Painesville, OH, 2-Sons: Darrell Y. and wife Pauline Viers, North Tazewell, VA, Kent W. and wife Betty Viers, North Tazewell, VA, 2-Sisters: Odra Childress, North Tazewell, VA, Vivian and husband Buford Blankenship, Vansant, VA.
Also, survived by 8-Grandchildren and 20-Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 3-Sisters: Belle Owens, Uva Colley, Ruby Woods and 3-Brothers: David Viers, Lawrence Viers and Albert Viers.
Funeral Services for ADRES J. VIERS will be conducted Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Big Prater Primitive Baptist Church with Elders of the Washington Association, Elders of Three Forks Association and Elders of Elkhorn Association officiating with burial to follow in the Childress and Viers Cemetery on Slope Street, North Tazewell, VA.
Friends may call at the Big Prater Primitive Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 P.M. with services Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M.
Active Pallbearers will be: Grandsons and Great-Grandsons.
