"Rufus Wood, who died Tuesday, July 17, 1900, at Eldred was born and raised just north of here had always lived here until a short time ago when he moved to Eldred, leaves wife and child. Aged 36 years, burial in Maberry cemetery. A son of Judge John Wood of Carrollton. He was twice married. First wife Ida Axton died five years after they were married. Second wife is Nancy Sturmon. Only child Wilby, six years old. A sister, Mrs. Letitia Hutchens also survives."
He married Nancy Sturmon on July 7, 1893 and Ida Axton on October 10, 1885.
