On the morning of Aug. 25, 2016, Steve passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Steve was born in Frederick, Okla., on Sept. 16, 1949. He was the first born of Clarence and Ann Massey.

In 1967, he graduated from S.H. Rider High School in Wichita Falls,Texas. Steve served honorably in the United States Marine Corp from 1970-1974, attaining the rank of Sergeant, and in the Reserves from 1974-1976. Steve was awarded the Purple Heart for meritorious service in Vietnam.

Following his military service, Steve pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University, graduating in 1976.

There, he met his wife, Pamela Jeanne Picquet. They were married in 1976, and at his passing were 10 days shy of celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. They have three beautiful children together: Robin, Catherine and Alan. Steve often regaled his friends with stories of their adventures and bragged about their accomplishments. He was so proud of them.

Until his death, Steve enthusiastically pursued his passion for golfing, fishing, skeet shooting, bird hunting and flying his Cessna.

When not at play, Steve found success in the oil industry. He began his 25 year career with Atlantic Richfield Company in Channelview, Texas. He then transferred to the North Slope in 1984; to Midland, Texas, in 1991; and to Bakersfield, Calif., in 1993; returning to Alaska in 1996.

He retired in 2001, following the sale of ARCO. Retirement was short-lived with no fishing or golfing to be done thru the winter. Steve soon joined Michael Baker International. Following a year with Michael Baker, Steve spent five years with General Electric. Steve enjoyed the next seven years developing new fields for Eni Petroleum and his last three years with BlueCrest Energy, attaining "First Oil" in Alaska with both. Steve was on the AOGA (Alaska Oil & Gas Association) Board and was a member of The Alliance and The Petroleum Club.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Massey.

Steve is survived by his mother, Ann Massey; uncle, Jim Danley (Sheila); his wife and children, Robin Leigh Glover (Sean), Catherine Gale Massey (Andrew Russo) and Alan Michael Massey (Lena); and grandchildren, Dallas and Emileigh Glover. He is also survived by his siblings, Gay Williams (Larry), David Massey (Marilyn), Carol Jackson (Byron) and Scott Massey (Carla); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Funeral to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Crestview Cemetery, Wichita Falls, Texas, at a later date.
