Marion Thurman Brock, age 87, of Boaz, a long time resident of Cullman, Alabama, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 . He passed away at his home with his loved ones by his side.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Etowah Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Boaz, Alabama. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Boaz, Alabama.
Visitation will be from 12 till 1 before the service at the funeral home
Mr. Brock was born on July 17, 1929 in Boaz,Al, to Parents; Marion Oscar and Minnie Milner Brock.
Marion grew up in Boaz and graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, Tn. He also attended Snead State Community College and Massey Business College. He met his wife, Peggy Leeth Brock, of 66 years on a blind date. They were married on June 4, 1950. Marion was a member of the United States Army. After his time in the service he worked at Dean Oil Company in Cullman, Al. as the accountant for the business. He was an active member of the Cullman Jaycees.
Marion was a long time member of The First Baptist Church of Cullman where he served as deacon. He and his wife were very active with the youth group at church. Marion and his wife have been members of Sardis Baptist Church in Sardis, Alabama for the last ten years.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years; Peggy Leeth Brock, daughters; Beverly Stuart (Harvey) and Eda Rutledge (Mike), Granddaughter; Heather Jones (Chris), Grandsons; Brock Rutledge (Lauren) and Josh Rutledge (Lindsey), Great-Grandchildren; Savannah, Sarah, Saydi, Sidney & Sylvi Rutledge and Keenan, Aidan, Lyge & Austin Jones, several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Leon & G. T. Brock, and sisters; Opal Medlock, Nerine Elrod, Anoise Cork & Marlene Dean.
