Until retiring on account of his health a few months ago, Mr. Helferstay's artistic services were much in demand, and many monuments to his talent are to be found here. One of the outstanding is his picture of Burnside Bridge, painted on the curtain of the Academy Theatre.
Mr. Helferstay has recently been employed at the Hagerstown News Agency. He was widely known and well liked.
Mr. Helferstay was a Mason and a member of the Jr. O.U.A.M.
He is survived by the following: two daughters, Mrs. Grace Palmer, Wilmington, Del., and Mrs. Maude Stevens, Fredericksburg, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Paul Stern and Mrs. May Mills, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Services were held at the Kraiss Funeral Home; interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
