When young and living in Kansas, Leonard picked corn by hand for neighbors.
Leonard was a P.O.W. for 16 months in the Korean War.
Leonard married Mary Lou Siercks on Nov. 19, 1966.To this union two children were born, Shindel Marcella and Tracy Leon Brown. They were also foster parents to many children. Leonard and Mary Lu adopted Calvin Wilson and gave him the name of Calvin Brown.
He loved to go fishing when he had a chance. When he went visiting grandchildren he often brought watermelon. Everyone enjoyed all his many stories. He often visited his cousins, Cleo Brown in Yuma, CO. and Waunita (Brown) Herron in WA.
Leonard was a long haul trucker for many years and after he retired, said he really missed being on the road.
Leonard and Mary Lou were divorced and Leonard married, Doris A. Boucher. Leonard and Doris "Dee" also took in foster children. Doris "Dee"had 3 daughters and in old age Leonard and Doris "Dee" left Nebraska and move to Walla Walla, WA and lived with her daughter, Julie Smith. Leonard and Doris A. were divorced Aug. 31, 2001 filed by his wife. I presume it was for financial reasons as they continued to live together at her daughters home.
