Professor Dennis M. Finn taught at Mountain Spring Academy, a boy's school near Herd's Gap north of Sylacauga, and was buried at the Taylor family cemetery at Mountain Spring, according to Carolyn Luttrell. Also called the Mountain Spring Cemetery, Taylor-Bledsoe Cemetery or Cook Place Cemetery as it is now called. These were actually two burial grounds, the Taylor family plot being a separate little cemetery on the Taylor property adjoining. (The Carolyn Luttrell Collection is at the B.B. The 1840 and 1850 censuses show him as Daniel W. Finn, and according to the 1850 census he was born c1823 in Ireland. Probate records give his name as Dennis M., and the name Dennis is handed down through descendants as well.
