Carl James Garrett, age 68, died on August 20, 2014, at his home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Carl was born on January 27, 1946 at the family home in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, the middle son of Jesse S. and Jaunita (Lytle) Garrett.

He was raised and received his education in the Barnsdall schools, graduating with the class of 1964. Upon completion of high school, Carl enlisted in the Army National Guard serving five years, seven months as a Field Communication Crewman. Carl began his career with Public Service Co. of Oklahoma in July 1965 where he worked as a electrical lineman.

He was a dedicated public servant throughout his life and was active in his community. He was a 32nd degree Mason, active in the American Legion. He began his service as a volunteer fire fighter in 1972 and later became a nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician. He was very active with the Barnsdall Ambulance Association and later retired as Chief of the Barnsdall Fire Department in 1992.

Carl earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked at Jane Phillips Medical Center throughout his nursing career. Carl worked in various positions from the emergency room, to quality management and nursing supervisor. Carl completed his tenure at Jane Phillips Medical Center as Director of Security in the year 2000.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse S. Garrett; mother, Mary Jaunita (Lytle) Garrett; and brother, Jesse Glen Garrett.

Surviving are his children, Cheryl Streets and her husband, Don of Bartlesville, Jeri Anna Aicher Thompson and her husband, Rob of Jasper, Arkansas, Jay T. Garrett of Owasso, Okla., Jessica Sproul and her husband, Chris of Bartlesville; twelve grandchildren, Kyle Streets and wife Alyssa of Cherokee, North Carolina, Nick Streets and wife Hannah of Bartlesville, Genson Streets of Bartlesville, Leigh Aicher of Oklahoma City, Bret Aicher of Oklahoma City, Delaney Garrett , Carson Garrett and Ella Garrett all of Owasso, Morgan Sproul, Braeleigh Sproul, Trinity Sproul and Kailyn Anderson all of Bartlesville; three great-grandchildren, Ryder Streets, Ella Streets and Baby Pinto Streets and brother, Joe Howard Garrett and his wife, Jean of The Woodlands, Texas.
