Columbia Daily Tribune, August 29, 2016 Shirley I. Bexten, 82, of Columbia, formerly of Omaha, Neb., entered into rest on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016. Shirley was born April 23, 1934, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Lester and Letha Stilwell. She married John Bexten on Nov. 6, 1955, and he preceded her in death. Shirley was a registered nurse for more than 50 years and received much joy from cooking and sewing for her family. She also enjoyed golfing and camping with her children and husband. Shirley was a loving mother of Jeff (Cheryl) Bexten, Dan (Becky) Bexten and Jill (Keith) Koppenaal; grandmother to Maddie (EK), Kailey, Dan, Saige and Bailey; step-grandmother to Leah, Kari, Kaleb, Brittany, Tiffany, Christopher and Tayler; and step-great-grandmother to Andrew, Laynee and Chevy. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial funds are recommended to the American Heart Association.
