Born on June 19, 1929 in Shenandoah, VA, he was the son of the late John Ellis Comer and Mamie Frances Comer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, E. Marian Comer; children, Larry Murray, Judith Torney, John Comer, and Marilyn Klinger; daughters-in-law, Susie Murray and Grace Comer; sons-in-law, Wayne Klinger and John Morgan; and grandchildren, Jennifer Torney, Christopher Torney, Jason Murray, Jessica Murray, Wayne "LT" Klinger, Jr., Madison Klinger, Katelyn Comer, Zachary Comer, Billie Jo Clark, and Katrina Breeden; great grandchildren, Carter Murray, Bryce Davis, Taylor Clark, Matthew Clark, Dustin Breeden, and Courtni Breeden.
John was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Kay nee Comer Conley.
John, affectionately known as Dad and Pop Pop, was a retired police officer, Navy veteran, and devoted family man.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015, from 10 AM until time of service at 12 noon at First Baptist Church of Welcome (6735 Port Tobacco Road, LaPlata, MD 20646). Interment will take place at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tenth District Volunteer Fire Department.
