SCOTSTOWN -- The funeral of George Armstrong, who died Feb. 5, 1964, at his home on Ditton Street, following a long illness, was held Feb. 7, at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, with Rev. R. D. Sandford officiating. Mrs. Maurice Auray presided at the organ and favourile hymns of the deceased were sung.
Burial was in the family plot in Gould Cemetery.
The bearers were Dannie D. MacLeod, John N. Mackenzie, Frank Haskill, Kenneth MacDonald, Kelton MacKenzie and Kenneth MacAullay.
Mr. Armstrong, was born in Island Brook on March 18, 1882. He spent the greater part of his life in this vicinity.
On December 26, 1914, he married Effie MacRitchie in Lowell, Mass. They made their home in Scotstown.
The deceased worked as a construction foreman for 35 years. In July 1945, he suffered a stroke which partly paralyzed him and for the last few months he was bedridden.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Leslie, of Toronto, Ont., three brothers, James, of Eastend, Sask., Almenzer, of Vancouver, B.C., and Alton, of Scotstown; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Smith, of Canterbury.
Among those from out of town attending the funeral were: Leslie Armstrong, Toronto, Ont.; James Armstrong, Eastend, Sask.; Mr. and Mrs. Percy Colburn, Lowell, Mass.; Miss Heather MacAulay, Brandford, Ont.; Alvin MacAulay, Dorval; Buddy Elger, Sherbrooke; Mrs. Cassie Ewing and son, Lennis Ewing, Island Brook.
