Relatives and friends were shocked when word came Thursday evening of the death of Mrs. F. W. Hockman. She had entered the York hospital the previous Friday for checkup and observation and was seemingly improving.

Mmes. Irvin Stanke, Merlin Greer and Dale Johnson had called on her at the hospital Thursday afternoon and as they were leaving she accompanied them to the door of her room and said she would see them again soon as she could go home the following day.

She died unexpectedly shortly after finishing her supper.

Abbie Sara Wilkins daughter of Wesley F. and Julia C. Wilkins, was born Sept. 2, 1913 at Fairfield, Nebr.

She was united in marriage to Frederick W. Hockman on August 15, 1935 at Fairfield.

Mrs. Hockman passed away May 3,1962 at the York General Hospital, York, Nebr. at the age of 48 years, 8 months ad 1 day.

Frederick and Abbie made their home in Edgar from the beginning of their married life.

She was a graduate of the Fairfield high school and a registered nurse having taken her training in the York Lutheran Hospital and Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Ill.

Abbie obeyed her Lord in Christian baptism becoming a member of the Christian Church, and she was faithful to her Lord throughout her life, a willing worker serving in the church as Sunday School teacher, choir leader pianist and in many other ways.

She leaves to mourn her husband, Frederick W. Hockman, her other, Mrs. W. F. Wilkins of Fairfield, two brothers, Robert Wilkins of Milan, Ill., and Allen Wilkins=s of Clay Center, Nebr. A sister, Mrs. Merton C. (Virginia) Hammond of Hastings; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. Preceding her in death were her father, Wesley F. Wilkins, and one sister, Margaret Beryl Wilkins.

Abbie was a member of the Edgar Woman's Club and held offices in the local and county womens clubs. She was active in helping her husband in the Lions Club and was always called upon to play the piano for the Lions Club.

Abbie will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her for she enjoyed doing for others so that they might have more sunshine n their lives.

Services were held in the Christian Church of Edgar Nebr., May 6. 1962, with Rev. Irvin Stanke officiating and she was laid to rest in the Edgar cemetery (sic).

The music was provided by Maurice Jacobson who sang "No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus," and "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer" accompanied by Mrs. Dale Tolle, pianist. Pallbearers were Roy Cline, Wendell Lee, Floyd Kollman, ,Everett Shaw, Charles Lobeda and Merle Shafer.

The Urbauer Funeral Service was in charge.
