Allen Beach, a well known pioneer resident of the county passed away at his home, 115 West Ninth Street, at 8:00 o'clock Sunday morning, after only a few days illness with pneumonia. The funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Golden of the Marion Street M.E. church, and attended by many friends. The remains were laid to rest in East Linwood. He was born in Connecticut September 1839. In 1852 he came to Grundy County, Iowa, where he remained for a time and came to Boone county in 1865. June 4, 1863, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Hull, who with six children survive to mourn his death. The children are James and George of Boone, Joseph of Los Angeles,California, Edward of Cedar Rapids, and Mattie and Jerome of Boone.
