Robert D. Trail, 84, of Beaumont died November 28, 2006 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.

A native of Central City, Nebraska and resident of Beaumont since 1946, he worked for Mobil Oil as a utility shift foreman until his retirement. Robert was a United States Army World War II veteran, receiving the Purple Heart during the Battle of the Bulge. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed woodworking and building toys for his grandchildren, which was his prize possession and working on his house.

Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Milo Trail; and sister, Helen Ozwald.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Marilyn Trail of Beaumont; son, Robert C. Trail and his wife Rita of Beaumont; daughter, Kathryn Tortorice and her husband Tony of Beaumont; grandchildren, Robert Burke Trail of Beaumont and Maria Tortorice and Tony Tortorice , Jr. both of Beaumont; and nephew, Larry Oswald of California.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 1, 2006 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to a Catholic charity.
