WWII Veteran, US Army Air Forces - 8th Air Force stationed in England. Became a wing intelligence officer (WIO) on B-29 Superfortresses while serving in Guam for the 315th Bomb wing.


Sidney was born Sacha Baraniev in the Ukraine and came to the US with his parents when he was a child. He started his career as a newspaper reporter. Then he became a Hollywood screenwriter and producer. Sidney produced the films Pork Chop Hill (1959) and Cape Fear (1962).


He was married to actresses Alice White, Ellen Drew, and Patricia Owens. Sydney died from cancer at age seventy-five.
