She was raised in Pawnee County, graduating from Maramec High School in 1947. Naomi was united in marriage to Jimmie A. Shelton on July 15, 1949 in Yale, Oklahoma and to this union three children, Jackie, Kenny and Kevin, were born. Jimmie preceded her in death on September 18, 1967. She was united in marriage to Samuel E. Butcher on March 11, 1973 in Cushing and Sam preceded her in death on June 30, 1986.
Naomi had worked as a telephone operator in both Ponca City and Cushing. She later worked at Deep Rock School and had worked several years for the Davis Funeral Home. Naomi served as a caregiver to many families in the Cushing community.
She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, camping, fishing, playing cards, working in her garden and growing flowers. The love of her life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving include her children, Jackie Moore and her husband Ragon of Cushing, Kenny Shelton and his wife Tammy of Cypress, Texas and Kevin Shelton and his wife Carla of Mariposa, California, her grandchildren, Ryan Moore and his wife Naomi of Gracemont, Oklahoma, Amanda Moore of Tulsa, Sam Shelton of Houston, Texas, Chelsea Shelton and Hayley Shelton and Paige Shelton, all of Mariposa, California, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Kenneth Niccum, Floyd Niccum, Bill Niccum, Richard Niccum, Louis Niccum, Velma Lasater and C.A. “Pete” Niccum.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church with Ralph Hickman and Jim Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawson Cemetery in Yale.
