Graveside services honoring her life will be held at Dodge Grove Cemetery on Tuesday January 6, 2015 at 3:15 p.m. with Reverend Wilford Stevenson officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Alice was born on June 3, 1921 the daughter of Earl and Effie (Shadwell) Rentfrow. She married Charles Zike on September 3, 1950 in Mattoon, IL; he preceded her in death on March 22, 2003. She is survived by her friend and caretaker Janey Dennis of Mattoon, IL, friends , Cindy Karottki of Agwam, MA, Amy Royse of Mattoon, IL and Rev Wilford and Lynette Stevenson of Charleston, IL. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by her friends Gladys Canary, Wanda Ryder-Smith and Wilma Ryder.
Alice enjoyed traveling to Brown County, Indiana with her husband Charles. She also enjoyed working out in her flower garden and loved animals, especially dogs. Memorials in her honor may be made to the Coles County Animal Shelter 6818 North County Road 1120E, Charleston, IL 61920 or Peace Meal.
