Joe enlisted in the Air Force at age 17 and served 20 years and retired in 1972 from Rantoul Air force Base in Illinois as a Tech Sargent in sheet metal work and instructor. While in the military in the late 50's and into the 80's he was quite the musician. Well known in the Spokane area for his lead guitar talents and singer of genuine country music and belonging to the group "The Comanchero's". During this time is when he met the love of his life, Deanna also known as "Dee Dee" in the country music world at a local establishment in Hayden Lake, Idaho called Hauser Lake Inn in 1962 and they married in November 1963.
After his retirement from the military he went to work for Conley Tire (Spokane) as a mechanic, then Millwood Furniture (Spokane Valley) and last at Ennis Fine Furniture (Spokane) as a delivery driver where he retired early. Joe then took up wood working as a hobby in his shop where he loved working with his hands and became quite the craftsman.
Joe is survived by his wife Deanna of 48 years, daughters LaVonne (Dwayne) Schreiber, Otis Orchards, WA, JoAnna Duguay, Spokane Valley, WA, grandchildren, Kayla (Terry) Craddock, Cassie (Brian) Nutley, and Kody Schreiber and great-grandson Gage due in July.
He will be remembered for his love to his wife and family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law. Joe will be greatly missed by all. At his request there will be no memorial service but contributions can be made in his name to the organization of choice. Cremation service is being done by the Neptune Society.
