Mrs. Virginia Mercier was born in Canada in 1837, where she remained until fifteen years of age, when she came to Iroquois county, Illinois. About a year later she was married to Nelson Coash, a farmer of that county, and they resided there for many years. Eleven children were born to them, six of whom are dead. Those living are, John of Lyons, Neb; Fred of Momence; Mrs. Hattie Stregel of Clay City, Mrs. Adeline Ashline of Momence and a daughter residing at St. Anne. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. J. Grenier of Lyons, Neb.
About 15 years ago Mr. Coash died and then years ago she was married to Mr. L. Marcier, who also died about four weeks ago.
On Monday evening while at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ashline, she was taken suddenly ill and soon passed away. Her disease was cancer of the stomach and she had been a sufferer for several years.
The remains were shipped from this place to St. Anne, Wednesday, and the funeral was held in the Catholic Church conducted by Fr. Berard. The deceased had been a member of the Catholic church for years and was a faithful Christian. The relatives have the sympathy of all.
