The date and cause of death for Charles are not known. The coroner recorded his notes on the reverse side of the death certificate, stating that Charles was last seen alive in Oklahoma on the 15th of May, 1939, and his remains were recovered in Wyoming on the 22nd of August, 1939. The body was discovered in rural Natrona County in an area about 15 miles to the north and west of the town of Midwest, Wyoming. The informant was Charles' mother, Pearl Brown.
