ALBANY -- Hazel Pate Adams, 86, went home to be with the Lord from Abilene, Texas on Tuesday, March 26, 2002. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church with the Reverend John Tunnell and the Reverend James S. Carmon officiating. Interment will follow in Albany Cemetery, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.

She was born November 16, 1915, in Albany, Texas, the daughter of Lynn and Effie Brown Pate. She married Aubrey Adams, August 18, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1990. Hazel and Aubrey lived and worked in Albany and Nocona where they owned jewelry stores. Hazel worked for the City Offices of Albany and Nocona, the Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Nocona and Nocona Jewelers. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors are a daughter, Lyndall Chaffin of Carrollton; a grandson, Shannon Chaffin and wife Michelle and their sons, C.J. and Brian Chaffin, all of Lewisville, TX; a granddaughter, Meredith Chaffin and grandson, Robert Chaffin, both of Carrollton; a cousin, Helen Lieb of Albany; a brother, Reverend James S. Carmon of Siren, Wisconsin; and a host of friends and other family.
