He was born to Abraham and G. Belle Wiener. He graduated from Columbia University, but left NYU Law School early to support his family when his father died. He proudly served as a pilot for the U.S. Navy during WWII. After the war, he was a pilot for Capitol Airlines. Later, he began a sales career, and became one of the top 10 salesmen in the country for companies such as World Book. Howard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cony, his sons, Andy and Tom, and his grandsons, Eric, Greg, and Justin. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a gentle giant with a twinkle in his eye, a joke on his lips, a quick mind, and the willingness to give them the shirt off his back. He will be missed greatly. The family will hold a private service in his memory. His ashes will be interred at the Houston National Cemetery.
