After the death of his mother when he was 6 months old, his paternal aunt, Alice Elwell Clark and her husband, Miner Clark moved to the Elwell farm and made a home for both families including her six children, and his sister, Dorothy.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, a daughter; a brother, Maurice; a sister, Mrs. William (Dorothy) Geary. He is also survived by his six cousins that he grew up with.
He is buried in the Clark family plot in Evergreen Cemetery, Arlington, Vermont.
