Martha Richards was born in Fayetteville Ark., in 1842. Her parents moved to Missouri while she was yet a child. After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Texas in 1874. Her husband was a Missionary Baptist preacher, and her life on the Texas frontier was one of sacrifice and unselfish devotion. Services were officiated on Thursday by Rev. Matlock and Rev. Tippen. Grandma Chapman was one of those sainted souls whose life had long been an inspiration to all who knew her.
Surviving children are J.C. Chapman, J.T. Chapman, V.H. Chapman, Mrs. Annie Berry, Mrs. Althen Hall, Mrs. Katie Garrett.
