Believe his parents were William H Berry and Marticia Greer Berry per genealogical research by my aunt, along with 1850 and 1860 censu records.

Was a Corporal, Company H, 23rd Iowa Infantry Enlisted 20 Jul 1862, wounded at Black River Bridge, died at Vicksburg 11 Aug 1863

Enlisted the same day as his cousin Benjamin H. Berry, per one source.
