Iva L. (Lou) Biewen, 84, of the Woodlands, TX, went to be with her Lord August 13, 2016, surrounded by family. She was born October 21, 1931, in Fletcher, Oklahoma, the daughter of Viola and Cecil Sims. She was the eldest of five siblings. She attended Texas Tech University School of Nursing for two years. She later worked several years as executive secretary for the Stowe and Harman Law firm in Odessa, Texas. She married Jerry D. Biewen on June 9, 1961. They were married for 55 years. Jerry worked for the Federal Aviation Agency as an Installation Technician, installing electronic equipment in aviation control towers. They settled in Conroe, Texas in 1968 when Jerry was transferred to the Houston Air Route Traffic Control Center. A daughter, Lori, was born to this union in 1966. Lou volunteered at the Conroe Medical Center Hospital for several years and was eventually hired as the Director of Volunteer Services, serving in that capacity for approximately 17 years. Lou was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Eldon Sims and sister, Bonnie Terrell. She is survived by her husband Jerry, of the Woodlands, Texas, daughter Lori and son-in-law Adam Trammell of San Diego, CA, sisters Joy Duncan and Ruth Terrell of Bakersfield, CA as-well-as her two grand dogs, Rhiannon and Walter. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park the Woodlands Cemetery. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
