Uvonne Maxfield McCarty, age 77, of Sparks, Nevada and formerly of Lyman, died August 4, 2016 at her home in Sparks, holding her husband's hand. She was born May 21, 1939 in Lyman, a daughter of Grant LaMar and Edna Nancy Durfee Maxfield. She graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1957. She married Melvin Dennis McCarty.

Uvonne was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions over the years. During her working career, she worked for the CAP, Nevada Bell and Life Touch.

She has left a large hole in many hears and will be greatly missed.

Uvonne is survived by her husband, Denny McCarty of Sparks; children: Dennis McCarty, Nancy and Ronnie Petersen, all of Sparks; April and Jonathan Taylor of Tooele; grandchildren: Ethan Grant McCarty and Joyce House, Tanner Brett Petersen, Janice Uvonne Taylor, Melanie Denise Taylor and Leah Ellen Taylor; brother: Frank LaMar Maxfield of Dameron Valley; sisters: Gloria Harris of Reno; Trudy and Richard Curtis of Tooele.

She was preceded in death by her parents, LaMay and Edna Maxfield; and a brother, Byron Grant Maxfield.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Lyman Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel, Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Lyman Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
