Born in Plaska [sic] County, Ky., James Baker's father died while he was still an infant. The widow took James and an older brother to Indiana where they lived for a while before going to Illinois, and in 1864 to Iowa. In 1893 Mr. Baker came to Kansas, farming in the western part of the state and later in Anderson county. He moved to Iola about 25 years ago.
Survivors include three sons, O.E. Baker, Wichita; W.A. Baker, Marlin, Kas.; one brother in Iowa, fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
