— Frank Elwood Dare, 74, of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Bonnie, died at 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 27, 2006, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Mr. Dare was born July 23, 1932 in Bonnie, to Guy and Faye (Harmon) Dare. He married Chloe (Withrow) in July of 1969. She survives.
Frank loved working with his horses.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, with Pastor Ron Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at South Hickory Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time on Wednesday.
Frank is survived by his wife, Chloe Dare of Mt. Vernon; son Melvin Dare of Tamms; brother James Dare of Newman; sister Marge McCumber of Urbana; nephews Dennis Cockrum of Champaign, John Dare of West Peoria, Guy Webb of Camargo; nieces Lela Duckworth of Champaign, and Viki Ponder and husband Rob of Chattanooga, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers and sister Betty Faye Webb.
Memorials may be made to the South Hickory Hill Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral Home.
