Floye Lucille Elmore left this world to join our Savior in Heaven on August 12, 2016 at 103 years old in Denison, Texas.

Floye was born in Alma, OK on September 12, 1912 to Joe D. and Mollie Elmore. She lived in the Alma/Fox area and graduated from Fox High School in 1930. They moved to Ardmore in 1937. She had three brothers and three sisters.

Floye spent most of her career as a silk finisher at Wilkes Cleaners in Ardmore and was self employed as a part-time seamstress after retirement. She moved to Denison, Texas in 2011 to be closer to some of her family.

Floye enjoyed gardening, especially her vegetable garden and loved to share her harvest with family and friends. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. At 92 years old, she was still carrying her youngest great granddaughter outside to play in the sand pile or climb a tree in the middle of summer.

Floye was very devoted to her Christian faith and was a long time member of the First Avenue Church of Christ in Ardmore. She enjoyed any opportunity to worship and delighted in the Gospel music, especially when preformed by her family. She lived with and generously cared for both her parents until they left this life for eternal life with Christ.

Floye is survived by her son Vernon Elmore and wife Elaine of Ardmore, brother Johnny Elmore, of Ardmore grandchildren, James Elmore of Ardmore, Janet Oakley of Denison, TX and Judy Martin and husband Rick of Norman; great grandchildren, Kurtis and Conner Elmore, Rachel Wilburn and husband Chris, Ansleigh Oakley, Jacob and Erin Martin and her great great granddaughter Brooks Wilburn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mollie Elmore, sisters Eva Tate and Vera Marris and her brothers J.D. and Glenn Elmore.

A celebration of life for Floye Lucille Elmore, 103, will be Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the First Avenue Church of Christ, located at 1012 First Ave NW. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
