Mrs. Essie May Childs Richardson, a Crosbyton resident for over half a century, succumbed at 5 p.m. Sunday in Crosbyton Hospital. She had experienced a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Richardson was 85.

Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Crosbyton First Baptist Church. Officiating were the Rev. Floyd Shaffer of Clyde and Elder J.T. Graham of Lubbock.

Adams Funeral Home directed interment in Crosbyton Cemetery.

The former Essie May Childs was born October 20, 1892 in Corsicana. She moved to Crosbyton in 1924.

The longtime Crosbyton resident was a member of the Crosbyton Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Lonnie Richardson of Crosbyton, L.D. Richardson of Stinnett, J.D. Richardson of Hereford, and Donnie Richardson of Lubbock; five daughters, Mrs. Vesta Dewbre, Mrs. Vertie Powell, Mrs. Tina Polvadore, and Mrs. Ollie Polvadore, all of Crosbyton, and Mrs. Betty Boggs of Hereford; one sister, Mrs. Ida Zuber of Childress, 28 grandchildren; and 38 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by another daughter, Bertha Boggs, who died in 1953.
