Mrs. Ada M. Cheairs died Sunday night at New Albany after a short illness.
She was a native of Marshall County, Ada Marshall Rook the eldest child of Daniel Thornton and Mary Ann Rook, and was born in October, 1857 at the old Rook home near Hudsonville. At the age of seventeen she married John Osgood Cheairs. They made their home only a short distance from the birthplace of each. Her husband died in 1905.
She moved to New Albany about seventeen years ago where she had lived with her daughter, Miss Clyde Cheairs.
She is survived by eight daughters; Mrs. Will Malone, Moscow, Tenn; Mrs. Annie Craig, Mrs. Hugh Craig, and Miss Clyde Cheairs of New Albany; Mrs. W. J. Gilmer, Hudsonville: Mrs. Oren Hunk and Mrs. J. M. Jarratt, Memphis; and Mrs. LeBech, Tulsa, Okla.:
Three sons; Osgood, Tulsa, Okla.; Ben and John, Memphis.
Six sisters; Mrs. M. E. Moore, Corinth; Mrs. Bettie Shaw, San Angelo, Tex.; Mrs. Barbara Moore, Meridian; Mrs. H. L. Johnson, Lucy, Tenn.; Miss Myrtle Rook, Hudsonville, and Mrs. R. L. Reed, Oxford; One brother, J. N. Rook, Hudsonville; twenty-seven grandchildren and 5 great grand -children.
Funeral and burial services were conducted by Rev. Holder, Methodist minister of New Albany at the Cheairs Cemetery Monday afternoon.
