Shauna Jorgenson
August 20, 1955 - August 8, 2016

Shauna Jorgenson of Ann Arbor, Michigan lost her 3 year battle with cancer on August 8, 2016 just 12 days before her 61st birthday. She passed peacefully Monday morning surrounded by family and friends at the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was surely met lovingly on the other side of the veil by her deceased mother, Leola Elva Elliott Jorgenson.

She is survived by her brother, Keith Elliott Jorgenson of North Salt Lake, Utah; her father, Sherrell Carpenter Jorgenson of Troy, Michigan and his wife Margaret Dana Jorgenson and her five children and 10 grandchildren: Carrie Dana (Bryan) Phelps (Sawyer, Porter, Abbie, Ella) of Syracuse, UT; Margot Dana of Salt Lake City, UT; Kimball Dana of San Diego, CA; Benjamin (Jamie) Dana (Katelyn, Collin, Chase, Audrey) of Tomball, Texas; and Elizabeth (Tony) Knight (Alexander, Grayson) of Saratoga Springs, UT.

Shauna was born in Saint Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City where her mother was a Maternity Nurse. Her father was attending the University of Utah. Her brother, Keith was born 2 years later and in 1961 the family moved to Brunswick, GA where she discovered the joys of reading and how delicious shrimp was. In December 1968, the family moved to Ann Arbor, MI and there discovered her love of fabrics and all things crafty. She graduated from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah in the 70's with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Clothing and Textiles. She was a valued employee in the Yard goods departments of K-Mart, JoAnn Fabrics and then Hudson's. When Hudson's closed their fabrics department, she migrated to Customer Service. In 2007 she was nominated by her fellow employees and customer testimonials to be the first chosen as "Hudson's Finest". She worked there for 20 years.

Ms. Jorgenson was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she faithfully served as Librarian a Bulletin Coordinator.

Her friends describe her as always pleasant, a hard worker, loyal, non-judgmental, a good listener, avid reader, a good friend and very creative. She enjoyed nature but did not care for gardening. Shauna often said, "I don't do dirt."

A funeral service for Shauna will be held Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 11:00 am at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 525 Woodland Dr. E, Saline, MI. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 am – 10:30 am before the service. Entombment will immediately follow the service at Washtenong Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Shauna may be made to the LDS Church Humanitarian Services.
