Lawanna Susan “Sue” Archibald, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 8, 2016 at her home.

She was born October 8, 1940 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Allen Merlin Giles and Oca Lela Davis Giles. In 1948, at the age of 7, she and her family moved to Salt Lake City. She attended Mt. Olympus High School and later went to cosmetology school.

In 1958, she married Verl Lyn Anderson. They had three children: Katherine (Anthony) LaRosa, Sam Anderson and Maryann (Keith) Burke. They were married for 10 years before they were divorced. In 1973, she married Stanley Earl Butler and they had one daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Patterson. In 1973, they moved to Idaho and lived in Dubois for 3 years and in 1976, they moved to Ucon; Stanley passed away in 1996. In 2002, she married Bob Archibald.

Sue was the owner-operator of an assisted living facility. She was an advocate for the mentally ill. She loved people!

She volunteered for Help Inc. and participated in the Big Sisters USA and Foster Parenting. She belonged to a pinochle club. She also loved taking care of people, caregiving, cooking, dogs, decorating, gardening and her family.

Sue is survived by her husband, Bob Archibald; daughters: Katherine LaRosa, Maryann Burke and Jennifer Patterson and a son, Sam Anderson all of Idaho Falls; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sisters: Vera Gifford of Farmington, Utah and Carolyn Washburn of Sandy, Utah; and a brother, Dee Giles of Sandy, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a step-son, Jody Earl Butler.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. August 13, 2016, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the mortuary.
