Mrs. Dorothy Cresswell, age 97, of Allenton, MI, died Sunday, August 7, 2016 at home surrounded by family. Dorothy Edna Berg was born February 9, 1919 in Los Angeles, CA. She is the daughter of the late George and the late Bertha Marie (Nau) Berg. Dorothy grew up in Detroit and was a long time resident of Rochester, MI. She married John Henry Cresswell on November 21, 1946 in Highland Park, MI. Dorothy and John have lived in Allenton since 1979. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Oakland University in 1971 and worked for the State of Michigan as a Social Worker in the Department of Social Services in Port Huron, MI.

Dorothy is survived by five daughters: Betty Riffle of Traverse City, MI, Jacqueline Cresswell of West Branch, MI, Marjorie (Charles) Froberger of Macomb Twp., MI, Deborah Cresswell of Los Angeles, CA and Clara Cresswell of San Ramon, CA; three sons: William (Diane) Cresswell of Romeo, MI, Benjamin Cresswell of Hartland, MI and Timothy (Nancy) Cresswell of Littleton, CO; 16 Grandchildren; 15 Great-Grandchildren; and 2 Great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son: Ross McCord; daughter: Victoria Cresswell/Heimann; son-in-law Robert Riffle; and her sister: Bertha Berg-Pierce.

The funeral will be held 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 13 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI on Monday, August 15 at 12:00 pm. Family will be available for visitation 11 – 12 noon, Saturday, August 13, 2016.
