Lester R. Beadle, son of Benjamin F. and Emma Beadle, was born near Clearfield, Iowa, on September 6, 1884, and departed this life at his home in Beaconsfield, Iowa, January 1, 1933, being 48 years, three months and 27 days of age. Death resulted from a heart attack.
He spent his boyhood on a farm near Clearfield. When a very young man he removed to Clearfield to become associated with his brother Bailey in the mercantile business. In 1904 he moved to Beaconsfield, where he continued in the same business, and where he met and married Miss Iva Millstead in 1905. To this union were born two children: a son who died in infancy and a daughter, Merna I. Manley, of Des Moines, Iowa. All of his married life has been spent in a business capacity in the community, about fifteen years in the mercantile business and the past fifteen years as a banker. During this long period of business activity he has won and held the esteem of all with whom he has come in contact.
Lester united with the United Brethern church in Beaconsfield and remained a faithful and diligent worker until the church disbanded. Since then he has attended the M. E. church and has been always a conscientious christian. He was also a member of the Banner Lodge No. 437, A. F. and A. M.
Those left to mourn his death are his wife Iva; his daughter, Merna; and three grand children, Beverly Ann, David Hugh, Jr., and William Lester Manley, all of Des Moines; three brothers, Steven S. of Des Moines, Bailey O. of Atlantic, Iowa, and William Edward of Burbank, California; one sister, Mrs. Edith Stevens of Ellston, Iowa. Together with these are many dear relatives and a host of friends to whom his death was a great shock and a serious blow.
None could seem so kind as he For no matter where his thoughts might be; In pain, grief, at work, or at play, Whether it be a bright or gloomy day, It will always be spoken of him That he was a kind and true friend.
Gone are the happy days of his earthly abode, But his smiles and character live on. Stilled is the voice we loved to hear, Vacant the chair we held so dear, But his works and deeds life on. - A Friend.
Services were held at the Beaconsfield M. E. church Wednesday, January 4, 1933, at 1:30 p.m. with T. T. Kies, of Prescott, officiating, assisted by Rev. W. W. Kratzer, of Kellerton. Interment in Clearfield cemetery.
