Aaron Silas Cannaday, 95, of Martinsville passed away on August 6, 2016. He was born in Patrick County on June 25, 1921 to Stephen Cannaday and Clara Turner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dennis E. Cannaday, Sr.; brothers James, Riley and John Cannaday.

He is survived by his wife, Christine LaPrade Cannaday; sisters, Josephine Ferguson, Hester Wilson and Mary Hodges; brothers, Paul and Victor Cannaday; grandchildren, Josh T. Cannaday and Dennis E. Cannaday, Jr.; also two great grandchildren.

Mr. Cannaday was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and the American Legion. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping and hiking.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Community Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park with military honors.
