Irene M. Scott, a life-long resident of Humboldt County, Nevada, passed away July 1, 2016 in Winnemucca. Irene was born 95 years ago to Domingo and Esperanza Marcuerquiaga. She grew up on the Buffalo Ranch in Orovada, Nevada, with her parents and 10 siblings.

Irene married Felix A. Scott in 1950. Irene was actively involved in operating Scott Shady Court Motel with her husband and family in Winnemucca, Nevada. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. She was a wonderful cook and her amazing chorizo bread will be missed by many.

Irene's social outreach and generous spirit were instrumental to Felix's political career. Her door was always open and she happily fed and entertained many family and friends over the years. Her 4 o'clock Happy Hour at the big table will be missed but not forgotten. All social, political and family moments were captured in triplicate by her 110 Kodak Instamatic camera.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters, Dominica Laucirica, and Matilda Marcuerquiaga, and her brothers, Jose Ygnacio, Martin, Mateo, Pedro, Alfonso, Joseph Domingo, Julian and Edward Marcuerquiaga.

She is survived by her son, daughter and grandsons and great-grandchildren, loving in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews and long time friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith Family Funeral Home, Fallon, Nevada.
