Eugenia G. Hanna was the youngest of nine children born to Robert H. Hanna and his wife Lydia Stone. She never married but lived in the household of her parents and, after their deaths, in the household of her older unmarried sister Emeline. As with many of the Hanna children, the birth date of Eugenia is uncertain. From census listings it would appears that she was born sometime around 1839. This would put her age at death as 79--not the 88 years claimed in her obituary (see below).

MISS EUGENIA HANNA DEAD
Miss Eugenia Hanna died suddenly last Sunday morning at her home near Wadesboro on the Camden road. She had cooked breakfast but died before she could eat it, and was found some time later by a relative. The funeral was held Monday by Rev. E.R. Welch, and the interment was in the Hanna burying ground.

Miss Hanna was a daughter and the last surviving child of the late Robin [sic] Hanna, who died a number of years ago at the age of 106. She herself would have been 88 within the next few weeks. Her brother, Mr. R. A. Hanna died about two years ago, aged 88. Miss Hanna was a most estimable woman, a member of the Methodist church, and had many friends who mourn her loss.
