John was born on September 4, 1947 in Peoria the son of Darrell and Margaret B. (Cripe) Ayres.

He is survived by his daughter Kim (Toby) Marshall of Galva; three grandchildren, Toby (TJ) Marshall of Chillicothe, Jonathan (Breanna) Marshall of Lafayette, and Marie Marshall of Galva; two great grandchildren, Levi Marshall of Laura and Lila Marshall of Washington; and one brother, Rod Ayres of Alta. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother and a niece.

John worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in Mossville for over twenty years. He was a member of the Air force Reserves in Peoria. John loved his dogs, the outdoors, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed his grandchildren and watching them play sports.

John's funeral service will be held 10:00am, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7:00pm at the funeral home.
