Joeseph married Nancy Whitaker on 26 Sep 1922 in Pinal County, AZ. Their family appears in the 1940 census for Pinal County. At that time, they had four of their eight children living with them. These four, all sons, were Ira-17, Leonard Alvin-14, Kenneth Ray-8 and Vernon Dean-2.

Joe died nine days after his 85th birthday.
