Halen was born October 8, 1924, to Claud C. Lee and Mary Exa DeLoach Lee in Leton, Louisiana. After graduating from high school, he received a scholarship and attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston, until he enlisted in the Navy and served as an electronic technician until the end of WWII. He married Mary Frances McClure in 1944. He lived in Longview since 1962, and was an active member of First Baptist Church. He retired from Mid-Valley Pipeline Company after more than 30 years. After retirement he became an avid golfer and traveler. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred; brother, Frank; and his wife, Frances. In 1981, he married Lucy Northern Bane. Halen was blessed to have two long and loving relationships.
