Marlin E. Kraus, age 83, a former resident of the Township of Maplehurst, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011, at 3:45 p.m. at Gilman Care Center, Gilman, Wisconsin, where he had resided for the past one and a half years. A funeral was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stetsonville, with Rev. James H. Babler officiating. Burial was at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Stetsonville. Visitation was held at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Marlin was born on September 9, 1927, in the Township of Deer Creek. He was educated in Township of Deer Creek elementary schools. On October 15, 1949, Marlin was joined in marriage to Glora Mae Ames in Ogema, WI. He owned and operated Marlin Kraus Milk Hauling for many years, until 1989. He also farmed in the Township of Deer Creek from 1950 until retirement. He served as treasurer for the Spirit Lakes Improvement Association for 10 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tractor pulling, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Marlin is survived by his wife, Glora Mae Kraus of Withee; son, Donald Kraus (Special friend Diana Gerber) of Battle Creek, MI; daughters: Peggy (Ralph) Rindt of Lublin, and Nancy Dick of Medford; three grandchildren: Shelby (Ryan) Couillard of Withee, Luke (LeAnn) Rindt of Thorp, and John Rindt of Lublin; two great-grandchildren; Jacob and Bradley Couillard of Withee; and a brother, Ronald (Esther) Kraus of Stetsonville.

He was preceded in death by two daughters in infancy: Patty and Gail Kraus; one brother, Gerald Kraus; and his parent s, Joseph and Clara (Janke) Kraus.

Pallbearers were Ryan Couillard, Luke and John Rindt, Ray Metz, Ray Orth, and Jim Schilling. Honorary pallbearers were Jacob and Bradley Couillard.
