Rural Juniata resident Henry S Grothen, 88, died Saturday, Dec 16, 1995 at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion.

Services are Tuesday at First St Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings with the Rev Harold Stromer officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Brand-Wilson Funeral Home in Hastings is in charge of arrangements.

Mr Grothen was born Oct 23,1907 to Conrad and Katharina Emilie (Gross) Grothen in Juniata. On Aug 8, 1931 he married Bertha Koepp. He farmed in the Juniata area. He was a member of the Juniata Co-op.

He was a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Hastings and a member of First St Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings.

Survivors are his wife; two sons, Darrel of Cincinnati and Roger of New Oxford, Pa; one sister, Flora Holbrock of Hastings; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
