Lela Mae (Russell) Ainsworth, 84, a longtime resident of Konawa, passed away from this life Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at her home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Assembly of God Church, 205 W. Third in Konawa. Pastor Steve Lowrance and Ricky McClaskey will officiate. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.
Casket bearers are Larry Russell, Roy Riley, Ricky McClaskey, Jo Worthen, Barry Streetman and Bryan Russell.
Honorary bearers are Tom Hendrix, C.L. Bounds, Paul Campbell Jr. and Elvis Pete Argo.
Lela was born May 29, 1932, in Caddo to Benjamin Franklin Russell and Esta Mae (McClaskey) Russell. She married W.J. "Jay" Ainsworth Sept. 17, 1949, in Denison, Texas. She was a member of Assembly of God Church in Konawa, and she was a volunteer Pink Lady at Valley View Hospital in Ada for seven years.
Lela loved her little dog, Rocky. She took great pride in being an Avon sales representative for 35 years, working as an election clerk for 20 years and serving on the board at the Senior Citizens Center of Konawa and the Finance Committee. She and her husband, Jay, owned and operated a beef cattle ranch, and they enjoyed spending time together pursuing their love of breeding and racing horses.
She is survived by her daughters, Vickie Kennedy and husband, Bill, Janetta Jay Ainsworth and Lisa Ainsworth, all of Konawa; one sister-in-law, Lou Russell of Durant; one brother-in-law, Skeet McClaskey of Durant; two grandchildren, Landon Kennedy of Sulphur and Jaymeson Kennedy of Ada; her little dog and best friend, Rocky of the home; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; and her special friends at the Konawa Senior Citizens Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Franklin and Esta Mae Russell; her husband, W.J. Ainsworth; two brothers, Leon and Wesley Russell; and three sisters, Eva Russell, Frances Riley and Geneva McClaskey.
