He enjoyed a successful career in civil service, with the Social Security Administration. He never married. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan, and was a positive mentor for many children. He served on the board of directors of St. Joseph's Villa, in Richmond, as part of his service to children in need. He was born in the Church Hill section of Richmond, and died at Bon Secours Regional Medical Center, in Mechanicsville, Virginia, of congestive heart failure, after an extended illness.
