Gretje,her husband Lammert Wilma Baumann, and their five kids immigrated to the United States during the summer of 1852. Two of the five children dies during the trip to the United States and were buried at sea. They arrived in the New York in 1854. Gretje and one of the other kids dies shortly after arriving in the US, possibily of cholera. Lammert and the two older children, Evert(11) and Tonea(9), move to Illinois.
