Clarence Raymond Essary was born to Clarence Irvin and Ethel Lucille Middleton-Essary on October 22, 1929 at Kossuth, Mississippi. He passed from this life at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Monday, August 1, 2016. Preceding him in death were his parents, his two sisters, Audra Hays and Jewel Hays, and his two brothers, Leo Essary and Charles Essary. He was brought to Oklahoma by his parents in 1930 and has lived in the Porter and Wagoner areas since 1938. He was baptized into the Church of Christ at Haskell, Ok by Ernest Highers in the summer of 1945. In the middle of the 10th grade he dropped out of high school to work on the family farm. He married his only true love, Willa McEntire, on July 24, 1948; who bore him 4 sons: John, Mark, David and Alan, who survive him. Other survivors include his daughters-in-law, Karen, Joy, Vicky, and Beth; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, other family and friends.

Through middle age he was fully occupied with farming, attempting to raise his family, attending church services and engaging in hunting; his main hobby. During that time he was determined by Farm Journal, a national farm publication, to be in the top 10% in the nation in gross farm income. In 1963 his family was selected as the outstanding Farm Family of the Year in Wagoner County, by the Oklahoma State Fair Board in Muskogee. In his later years, in 1986 he received a four-year accounting degree from Northeastern State University; certified by the NSU registrar as graduating in the top 10% in the business college. In 1985 he collected a Black bear at St. James Bay in Alaska and in 1990 a Brown bear on Admiralty Island, Ak. In 2009 he published a 483 page book entitled Memoirs of a Pioneer Okie; recording a small part of his memories, at the age of 80 years. He would like to encourage everyone to worship God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 5-7 p.m. at Mallett Funeral Home.
