Born in Independent Hill, VA, he was a son of the late Walter and Hattie V. (Miller) Woolfenden. Mr. Woolfenden served as a respected member of the U.S. Park Police prior to retirement, serving as an officer and distinguished instructor, mentoring countless officers during his career. In addition, he was a member of the Murrells Inlet Moose Lodge.
In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by a son, James C. Woolfenden, Jr. (Jimmy).
Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years, June and a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Woolfenden.
Memorial services for James will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
