Funeral services will be Sun., Nov. 26, for Velma A. Hackett, 95, Madison, who died on Nov. 23, 2006, at Prairie Lakes Care Center in Watertown. The Rev. Kimberly Kaveny will officiate in First Baptist Church at Madison, and burial will be in Prospect Cemetery at Chester.

Casketbearers will be Brad Callies, Tony and Matt Doyle, Rob Magstadt, Mohamed Abusharkh and Jim Aalbers. Honorary casketbearers will be all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Velma Dilly was born on June 30, 1911, at Chester to Charles and Della (Randall) Dilly. She was raised in the Chester and Clarno areas in Lake County and graduated from Madison High School in 1930. She attended Eastern Normal College in Madison and married Clarence A. Hackett on Oct. 17, 1936, at Flandreau. They lived in Madison and she was active at First Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Linelle Mason of Miller, Clairene Hackett of Madison, Vernice (Tom) Doyle of Colman, and Kaelyn (Byron) Callies of Watertown; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Dilly of Sioux Falls, and Forrest (Kathryn) Dilly of Sheldon, Mo.; two sisters, Mae Della Dilly of Sioux Falls, and Marguerite Feldmann of Sheldon, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Lucille; her husband, Clarence in 1973; three brothers, William, Charles and Virgil dilly; and a sister, Gretchen Andersen.
